About company

Magnatech was founded in 1993 by Michael Leonhartsberger and registered with the Vienna Commercial Court (registration number FN34435s). The company’s first activities were electrical engineering, engineering and commissioning for plant manufacturers in the steelworks sector (Andritz Maschinenfabrik, SMS).

The company’s other activities focused on acid recovery for the treatment of pickling acid, specifically the Lurgi (fluidized bed) process.

Magnatech has been active in the steel industry worldwide for 30 years and has extensive experience working with steel companies in the USA, Germany, Brazil, Austria, India, Turkey and Russia. A number of projects have been implemented in these countries that meet international standards in the field of energy efficiency, green energy and the latest technologies.

This activity and the resulting contacts paved the way for the supply of spare parts for these systems and subsequently for advice and delivery of complete systems (Severstal 2018). The Severstal regeneration became the property of the customer at the end of 2020. This was possible despite difficulties caused by the global COVID situation.

Magnatech is 100% owned by the Leonhartsberger family and can therefore act flexibly. The last trading turnover was 2.3 million euros per year.

Our philosophy is to build reliable companies and to support the customer even in difficult phases. Thanks to our engineering competence, we design systems, buy individual components from specialized manufacturers mainly in Austria and Germany, deliver them to the customer, carry out installation supervision and carry out commissioning with staff training.

Since 2010 we have maintained a close relationship with RAD-CON, USA, a global technology leader for top hat furnaces for wire and strip annealing.

In 2021 we founded MAGNATECH Automation to expand our presence in the Russian Federation.

Another focus now is to use the existing know-how and connections for the development of projects in the CIS countries and the implementation of environmentally friendly projects in the mining industry, ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy.
